Specialist Doctors

We are especially interested in making all our patients feel right at home! We put your needs first to achieve efficient and comprehensive treatment. Our staff is trained and skilled, and we strive to provide energetic and fun-loving service to each patient. Each member of our treatment team is a Certified Dental Assistant and holds x-ray certification, and our office staff has years of experience in treatment patients with the highest level of care. We strive to stay abreast of the latest in technological advances by regularly attending continuing education courses and seminars, including OSHA and CPR classes.

  • Dr. Rizzo specializes in family and cosmetic dentistry. He attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry, where he attained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree. He remained in New Jersey to complete his residency at Hackensack University Medical Center before beginning his practice in 1994. He is currently the Assistant Director of Dental Services at Hackensack Meridian Health Services.


  • Dr. Rizzo is dedicated to providing premium care to his patients. He is aware of changes and advancements in both cosmetic and family dentistry and is committed to delivering state-of-the-art care to his patients. Dr. Rizzo is a proud member of the American Dental Association, as well as local professional organizations, such as the New Jersey Dental Association and the Bergen County Dental Society.


  • When Dr. Rizzo Dentist Carlstadt is away from the office, he can be found fishing, hiking, or simply enjoying the great outdoors. He is also a musician and artist, and he enjoys fine art.

Nuria Velez

RDH – Registered Dental Hygienist

  • Nuria Velez specializes in dental hygiene. She attended Bergen Community College where she attained her Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences. She is also CPR certified and has her Anesthesia Certificate. She joined our practice in 2012. She provides exceptional Dental Hygiene Care and educates patients on how to prevent dental problems by emphasizing the importance of proper brushing, good nutrition, and routine recall visits. She is accessible to patients via email on a daily basis to answer any questions that our patients may have regarding their oral hygiene. She is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

  • Barbara is a caring and talented assistant. She has been with our practice since 2013. She works very hard to make all patient feels comfortable and happy with their visits. She is currently working towards her CDA. Barbara is fluent in English and Polish.

Office Manager

  • Barbara is our office manager. She has a BS in Finance which she attained at Siena College in Loudonville NY. Prior to taking time off to raise her four children she spent 8 years in pharmaceutical sales. Barbara joined the staff at Dr. Rizzo’s in April of 2014. She is caring and patient. She takes her time to make sure each patient receives all the proper information regarding their treatment and ensures that each patient clearly understands it. She establishes a unique relationship with each patient allowing them to feel as comfortable as possible when coming into our office.

  • Jessica attended Berkeley College and received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. She has been working in the dental field since 2002 and is experienced in working with General dentists as well as Orthodontists. Jessica speaks fluent Spanish and enjoys learning new things.
